Vintage shopping in Athens - "Kilo-shop"

There are so many vintage shops in Athens, some of them are quite well known and some others are hidden but they store secret treasures. In this post I decided to share my favorite vintage store in Athens, a thrift shop full of surprises!

Every time I travel I am always looking for the best second hand stores at each place I go. When I left Crete to study in Athens at the university, I walked around the city everyday. I wanted to get to know Athens as much as I could! One day I was walking around the ancient market ('agora') in the center of the city and I passed a very big store with a vintage decorated window and the sign outside said "Kiloshop". I was intrugued by the sign since I had never heard about the concept of buying clothes per kilo before!

Once I stepped inside the store the only thing I could see was clothes and clothes and more clothes!!! I knew I had to spend at least an hour in there trying to find all the treasures without having a treasure map! Fortunately the people that work there really know their stock, so if they figure out what kind of clothes you like, they will make their suggestions and most of the times their suggestions will be on point!

The clothes differ in style, decade and sizes. You will find 50's promdresses, 70's flared jeans, 80's bomber jackets, 90's jeans and so so sooooo much more! As we all know 90's are back and what is better than original clothes from the 90's! Many items are unique but still affordable. The clothes vary in prices, there are scales at many places inside the store. Each item has a big button on it and depending on the color of the button you find out the price per kilo for that particular item. There is a big board on the wall with all the colored buttons on it and the price for each color (for example the items carrying the green button are 35 euros per kilo).

I can guarantee that if you have time to spend in 'Kiloshop' you will definitely find very interesting clothes and trust me, people will ask you where you bought them from! Walk around ancient "agora" have a coffee in Plaka and enjoy the view of Acropolis and then go treasure-hunting in "Kiloshop" at Ermou street 120. You will have a blast! #bwzenia
